City of Whittlesea LEAP  group and WCA are holding a joint multicultural cinema to held at the Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre on June 5th 2013 from 2 pm  to 6 pm. Please come along to an afternoon movie with Jacky Chan and invite as many friends as you can. It only costs $5.50 per person and children under 12 is free.

Lalor Community Multicultural Day

Engaging all multicultural community groups in and also around our area, our aim is to bring together closeness and awareness, to show people what’s out there for them to participate in or become apart of  in our community thereby helping with isolation and bringing different ethnic groups together for a fun and educational day .

Furlong Road Extravaganza

On Monday 17 at 4pm we open the next exhibition at Granary Cafe. This is a Furlong Road Extravaganza.... featuring the work of children from Dorothy Carlton kindergarten and from Furlong Park School for Deaf Children : both in Furlong Road. Download Flyers


Arab Australian Contributions to Victoria

On behalf of WCLN, Mr Pece (Peter) Gorgievski, the Vice-Chairperson of WCLN and the CEO of Global Dialogue Foundation attended an exhibition highlighting the valuable contributions of Arab-Australians to the State of Victoria, presented at Victorian Parliament House on 12 June 2013.  The exhibition was an opportunity to learn more about the excellent work of different Arab speaking groups", stated Mr. Gorgievski.
Keynote speaker: The Hon. Gareth Evans AC QC stated, "You have fabulously enriched our Australian society by your presence here, as this exhibition helps testify.  We have benefited from your intelligence and application, from the contributions you have made by hand and brain to the growth of this country, and from the multiple new cultural strands – of art, music, literature and spirituality – that you have layered and woven into the fabric that makes us the society we are". The Hon Gareth Evans AC QC also spoke about difficult topics such as humanitarian crisis and displacement of people in the Middle East and Australia's constructive engagement in the region, among others Presentations were also made by The Hon. Bronwyn Halfpenny MP, H.E. Izzat Abdulhadi - Ambassador, Head of the General Delegation of Palestine to Australia. The evening was completed with a dance performance and poetry recitals.
